Explorations In Engineering

This class is for FIRST TIME STUDENTS. Explorations in Engineering is a quick 4-week class where students learn about the Engineering career opportunities at Wheeling High School. They also focus on two hands-on projects using CAD software, Laser Cutters, and 3D Printers. Click the button for scheduling information and registration. (2) Courses will be held in the Fall (Tuesday or Thursday) & (2) Courses in January on Tues or Thurs.

Mass Communications

This course is for students interested in learning how to create digital video content for the 21st century market focusing on capturing, editing, and producing short clips to broadcast via social media platforms. Students will be filming and editing content with industrial film equipment as well as diving into Virtual Reality (VR).

Robotic Systems

This course is offered in the Spring. Students must have taken Explorations in Engineering to apply for this course. Robotic Systems focuses on design, engineering, and building of industrial robot systems. Students will explore the careers and opportunities around robotics by participating in hands-on design challenges. Click the button for scheduling information and registration.

Aerospace & Rocketry

This course challenges students to explore the physics of flight through hands-on projects, experiments, and FUN! Students in these classes will build gliders, launch rockets, and race drones as they explore the careers and possibilities in the aerospace industry.

Green Architecture (NOT RUNNING IN 19-20 SCHOOL YEAR)

This course is offered from the end of October - December on Thursdays. Students must have previously taken Explorations in Engineering to enroll. Green Architecture focuses on building structures, using hands-on tools to make models, and explores sustainable construction & design. Click the button for scheduling information and registration. Manufacturing Engineering (NOT RUNNING IN 19-20 SCHOOL YEAR)

This course is offered in late Spring. Students must have taken Explorations in Engineering to apply for this course. Manufacturing Engineering takes students into the world of manufacturing and engineering careers. Students will use a wide variety of industrial machining equipment to complete projects and design challenges. This may include CNC Milling, Plasma Cutting, Welding, and Laser Cutting.
